It turns out that making something in a cinematic style, with lots of cuts, puts a heavy requirement on the editor, and puts a lot of demands on the crew to avoid continuity problems by shooting lots of footage with cutaways and closeups and multiple angles. Doing this with just four people, when all of you are in front of the camera for a lot of the film, turned out to be over-ambitious.
Consequently, editing the film proved to be an absolute nightmare, and when the first two parts were not particularly well received, I put off editing the final part because I knew it would be even trickier to edit- as the shooting day had gone on, we'd pushed on to get it all done and consequently had even bigger holes in the continuity to cover up somehow in the editing.
We learned a hell of a lot from shooting it, the main part of which is that unlike stills where you can cope with multi-tasking, for video you just plain need more people to do a decent job, at least as soon as you do anything more ambitious than two rolling cameras, one long take. But it seemed a shame not to put this experimental video out in finished form.
